Lesley Conroy reviews student work for Auburn Green New Deal Superstudio

Last December, I had to opportunity to be an outside reviewer for Tom Hogge and Charlene LeBleu’s MLA Studio III final reviews at Auburn University. Students presented a wide range of proposed interventions for the existing 13.5 acre Davis Arboretum on AU’s campus and started meaningful discussions about landscape's role in colonialism, the future of arboreta, and the history of unceded tribal lands being used for land grant universities.

I was impressed with how the students were able to present their ideas clearly over Zoom. I was also surprised at how we were able to quickly understand the projects and have lengthy discussion despite being all over the country and not being able to see the work all pinned up at one time.
