Bethesda Green Street Project Awarded G3 Grant
Conroy Landscape Architecture’s collaborator on two projects in Montgomery County, MD has been awarded funding to create engineering drawings for the development of raingardens or bioretention cells along Woodmont Avenue. This funding comes from the Chesapeake Bay Trust’s (CBT) Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns (G3) program and is one of 36 projects to receive almost $2M funding total in MD, PA, VA, WV, and DC.
From the CBT statement:
This green infrastructure program is designed to facilitate and encourage communities implementing traditional “gray” infrastructure projects, such as repaving roads or reconfiguring intersections, to add green elements at little additional cost. These green elements then offer cost-effective savings on stormwater treatment, flooding reduction and other community benefits.
CLA will continue to lead the landscape architectural design for the transformation of Woodmont Ave. with hopes of expanding the project to other areas in Downtown Bethesda. You can see more of our work on the project here.
